Magic Island Stroll

We happened to be in town today around Ala Moana running some errands when we heard on the radio that the entire Ala Moana Beach Park will be closed off so the APEC higher-up's so their spouses can tan in peace and I hope they are at least going topless if I'm having to wait in traffic for 2 hours to get to work everyday. Anyway, with all anger and frustrations and run on sentences aside, we decided to pay a little visit to Magic Island before all the madness abrupts. Ala Moana Beach is one of the most baby friendly beach in Hawaii and stays consistently flat all year long. The park is I have to admit a little ghetto, and put it this way, I will never let Phe walk barefoot there, but the paved boardwalk is always nice for a little stroll. We honestly don't come here often but the thought of it being off limits next week made me want to experience it. Phe and his best bud Davy Crockett had a lot of fun playing and pushing each other on the skateboard while watching the surf. I wish everyday could end here at Magic Island...

North East Side Adventures with Daddy

People say you shouldn't ask a kid who he likes better mommy or daddy, I do it all the time, its funny! For him to come to me over my husband would take me dressed in a Wiggle's outfit (preferably Greg) and have a jar of nuttela while singing the Hotdog song. My husband goes away for an entire month and Phe gives him the biggest welcoming hug and kiss while I go away for 3 days and he doesn't remember me? Now I hate to go back to my birth story...but really after all that??! It's fine though because I love their little bond so much and Phe does love me more than him when he wants to sleep or eat lol..I get it, I'm the nurturer and he's the fun crazy friend that teaches him to be a hunter lol. Sometimes when I go to work, Phe and Daddy go on an adventure together to take photos of landscape and people...This time they picked the North East side of Oahu capturing the great mountain ranges and beautiful sunsets over Chinaman's Hat. Here is Phe, sporting his Puerto Escondido Tee and matching shorts all the way from Mexico that dad-dad got for him. Any chance my husband gets, he makes him wear this terrible outfit..I think it makes him feel like a proud dad recalling a time he was away from his son for a month walking aimlessly around Mexico trying to find something fit and fresh for Phe. There is no better ending to my work day than to come home and look through the pictures of their little journey together.

Royal Hawaiian Ocean Lawn

Speaking of grass, I have never seen a better maintained lawn than the Royal Hawaiian Ocean Lawn. It is certainly fit for royalty and has provided backdrop for movie kissing scenes for decades (most recently, Punch Drunk Love with Adam Sandler.) These were shot from our phones and don't do justice to this beautiful and soft baby inviting grass. Phe has been coming here since he learned to crawl. The best part about it is that since the Royal doesn't accommodate pets, it's poop free! If you have a keiki and you happen to be in Waikiki, treat yourself to a cocktail while you treat your little one to a royal crawl or a run =)
