Bellows/ River Mouth (Waimanalo)

I have already mentioned in prior posts, about how much I love Waimanalo..or if you ask any Hawaiian-- God's Country.  It's something about it I feel like if the entire island could be storming somehow Waimanalo would have the only sun peaking through it, maybe even a halo and a double rainbow.  It seems to always be looked after, and cared for...the Hawaiians that live there are your bestfriends at the end of the day if you are respectful..  I wouldn't crash a luau but you will most likely get invited to one anyway if you are livin in nalo'.  I have luckily paid my dues all through out highschool...they truly are some of the most funniest, hospitable people...not to mention indigenous which I have a lot of respect for.  Talk about there being 50 States and being able to say that I come from one of the only states with culture besides Alaska..    There obviously a lot of reasons to love Waimanalo but this post singles out a hidden gem which I am about to disclose...  Right next to Waimanalo beach is Bellows Airforce station with a beach similar to Sherwoods/ Waimanalo except if you go far down enough you will come to this awesome little river mouth.  It's never too crowded considering it is only open to public on weekends and it is the most ideal first wave for a keiki.  Perfect little baby ripples to boogie on down.  This is what we did today, laughed, bathed, soaked, loved and surfed under the celestial Hawaiian sun.  This is what life is about..

We found Hermit Crabs in a Cage-less Place...

A few weeks ago I blogged about the Waikiki Aquarium and how it was kinda sad. I mentioned that you can see most of the fishes that were in the aquarium in the wild if you go snorkeling. however that the best part about it was the hermit crabs we got to learn about and pick up with our hands...The other day, Phe and I went to Sandy's and ventured off to the tidepools on a lil mission and found TONS of little hermies.  It was pretty exciting seeing them in the wild after seeing them do there thing at an aquarium with a lady telling you not to do certain things...Anytime you get to see any living creature in their natural habitat is intriguing, even something so small as a hermit crab.  If it wasn't for going to see them in an aquarium a few weeks ago, I don't think we could've appreciated it as much..  Phe wanted to take them home as a souvenir but we returned it back to mother nature where they belong..  Loved every minute of it, exploring and stimulating our minds together through giggles unlocking the little beauties this world has to offer...We're all walking the Earth somehow =)

Makapuu Lighthouse Hike

I love any moderate paved hikes and since having a baby I have a really good excuse not to do strenuous crazy long-apocalyptic-stairmaster-torture hikes anymore..taking a baby on one of those hikes would be worse than taking them to happy hour with you. Makapuu Lighthouse is ideal for someone looking for a little adventure with a baby stroller..It's about a mile one way and for the first half you have an amazing view of the South East Oahu, Sandy's etc..and then for the home stretch you are rewarded with a sweeping view of the rest of the beautiful East side. The look on Phe's face when he looks at the ocean is the most precious thing..at that very moment I know that my baby was a turtle in his past life and he's lived years hundreds of years before all of us. whoo hoo!
